UK-Based Betfred Seals 3-Year Sponsorship Deal for Crabbie’s Grand National

Betfred, touted today as the world’s largest bookmaker for owning more than 1,370 betting shops throughout the globe, has added the Crabbie’s Grand National to its long roster of sponsorship deals. This coming April 03-05, 2014 and for the next two years, the Betfred brand name will be bannered as The Betfred Bowl Steeple Chase on Grand Opening Day, The Betfred Mobile Mildmay Novices’ Steeple, The Betfred Chase on Ladies Day and The Betfred TV Handicap Steeple Chase on Grand National Day in the Grand National festival.

Organisers of the Jockey Club Racecourses in Aintree disclosed that with the Grand National’s massive global appeal, an estimated nine million terrestrial TV viewers in UK and about 600 million from all over the world are expected to watch the famous Aintree steeplechase runs. After all, this is the first time in the Grand National’s 167-year history that £1 million in prize-money will be up for grabs.

Actually, this is also the first time that Crabbie’s brand name has been headlined as backer of the National Hunt horse race, replacing the John Smith’s beer brand, whose sponsorship contract lasted from 2005 to 2013.

Betfred on the other hand is sponsor to over 600 races, including the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup, regarded as the most esteemed race of UK’s National Hunt jump racing season. Betfred Chairman Fred Done is quite pleased with this latest sponsorship deal, and has stated that he is “very proud to be associated with The Crabbie’s Grand National.”
