A Maltese national’s luck has been William Hill’s big lost. The popular bookie was forced to pay out the sum of £570,000 at the last part of 2011.

The Maltese villager placed a bet of €1 punt on a 19 fixture accumulator last November and this has resulted in Glen Johnson getting a much stained reputation for Liverpool up against Stamford Bridge’s Chelsea.

The lucky better is a 41 year old Maltese waiter and he luckily won £570,000 for his 683,783/1 bet, which happened to be a very good prediction.

Hills put the blame of the result on the fall in victory margins from 19 % to 17 % over the last quarter as a group of favorites that include Charlton, West Ham and Arsenal have all gathered victory. The big losses were just additions to the most terrible months that the firm has experienced in more than a decade. This is despite the fact that the company earned some cash over Christmas.

Despite the big lost during the last part of the year, William Hill might still meet the expectations of having £247 million revenues for last year. This though might still be slightly higher than what the bookmaker made in 2010.

Mark Lipparelli, the head of the state gambling Board of Nevada said that the legalization of online poker was underway, and that the Board will ready to issue licenses to internet poker providers starting February next year. About the license requirements, Lipperalli added that they were going to be tough. He was quick in adding that the Board had considered the licensing model for online casinos was similar to the land-based one. Ladbrokes, a bookmaker, is currently in the process of trying to acquire Sportingbet, and online gambling company. They have announced that they will be giving an update on Thursday in regards to their progress in this matter. Ladbrokes first approached the company at the beginning of June about making an offer, and they have until the 17th of October to solidify their offer or else forfeit it. This is the second major acquisition Ladbrokes has attempted this year.

If that sale goes successfully then it is more likely that the Ladbroke’s offer will go through.

Ladbroke’s is currently looking to change the way people think of online gambling company’s and focus more on live betting rather than over the counter operations like many other bookies. They are also looking into changing up their mobile gaming to increase their revenue. They have already seen a 15% weekly increase from the beginning of the year, and the 2010 World Cup only had a small part to play in that. Betting has always thought to be a resilient industry, and has always been able to bounce back easily from any bad seasons it has seen.

The casino industry is looking at a different approach to legalise gambling. They feel that it is in their best interest if Congress would ignore all of the other bills that have already been entered into legislation and pass the one they are entering instead.

The casinos and the CEO of the American Gaming Association, Frank Fahrenkopf, are thinking positively about getting this law passed as soon as possible, and that the new bill will be revealed before the end of the year. Fahrenkopf believes they are close to seeing legislation and acknowledges that there is a lot of talk in Washington, D.C. about all of the action taking place.

After PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker were shut down by the federal government in April the rush to take part in the online gambling industry which normally earns approximately $6 billion a year, has increased tremendously.

There are still two mega casinos in Las Vegas that have not yet announced which side of the legislation they are on; the MGM resorts and Wynn resorts.
